| With the outbreak of the coronavirus in Slovenia, I have struggled with how to capture this story. Neighboring northern Italy, the current epicenter of the pandemic, is only two to three hours away from Ljubljana, our capital.
Slovenia is now in a complete lockdown. On March 19, a few hours before the stricter rules took effect, I took a stroll downtown. I was shocked by the empty streets and the unsettling atmosphere, unlike anything I've experienced. This is Tara Istinič, a first-year student at the University of Ljubljana. She worries about her studies, as she believes she learns most efficiently by attending lectures. She has also lost her student job in a sportswear shop. Follow @ciriljazbec
