New snack alert! Okay maybe meal since I just graze and eat small amounts... but oh man do I crave this right now! Remember rice cakes lol? ⁣🧡Savoury Snacks⠀ ⠀ Made these delicious, nutritious Chia Cheese Scones to take with me on a weekend of walking with friends.⠀ ⠀ Smell incredible and must admit they do taste pretty great straight out the oven! ⠀ If you need to get your kids to eat more omega 3 fats, like chia seeds, these are an excellent way to do it. Omega 3 fats are vital for good mental health🧠concentration and to reduce anxiety. And a great source of energy along with the whole meal flour and oats. ⠀ Recipe:⠀ 200g wholemeal spelt flour⠀ 50g oats⠀ 70g chia seeds⠀ 1 tsp baking powder⠀ 1 tsp mustard powder⠀ 1 tsp dried oregano or thyme⠀ ⠀ 100g butter⠀ 100g grated cheddar⠀ 1tsp oregano⠀ 50ml olive oil⠀ 2 eggs⠀ 100ml milk⠀ ⠀ Instructions:⠀ Preheat oven to 180C and prepare baking tray with grease proof paper.⠀ ⠀ Put flour, baking powder, mustard powder into a bowl & rub in the butter.⠀ ⠀ In a jug measure the oil, milk, add eggs & beat.⠀ ⠀ Add cheese, chia seeds & oregano to the mix then stir together.⠀ ⠀ Pour in wet mixture & use a fork to bind. It will be quite wet but just take a small amount of mixture at a time & roll into a ball. Place on tray. Our body can’t make them itself so we have to ensure we are getting sufficient amounts from our diet! ° Omega-3 comes in several different forms, including both animal and plant-based sources. ° ❗The three key types of omega-3 utilised by the human body include EPA, DHA and ALA. EPA and DHA have been found to support the body by contributing to joint, heart and eye health. ALA sources of omega3 needs to be converted in the body to be utilised, and this is where vegans/plant-based fellows need to be mindful! ° 🐟For those who consume fish, Omega3 can be sourced through small oily fish such as salmon and mackerel. For years I was WASTING my money on a fish oil product..😱 . I always knew I needed to supplement with fish oil... . mainly because I hardly EVER eat fish (wild caught deep sea fish), & because my family has a bad history of heart disease . but quite honestly I was finding the cheapest fish oil product I could find at the grocery store. . I thought all fish oil was the same; I had no clue what I was looking for in a fish oil product other than what price it was 💰 . QUICK BREAKFAST, my lazy way to make CHIA SEED JAM & benefits of chia seeds! I’ve been on such a bagel kick for a while now! Bagels are just that much better than a piece of toast! My fav bagels are from @silverhillsbakery & it’s their sprouted cinnamon raisin bagels! Sprouted grains are so much easier to digest & higher in protein!! These bagels have really great ingredients and no weird fillers or preservatives that you can’t even pronounce!! My fav way to enjoy these bagels is with lots of almond butter, banana & raspberry chia jam!! Scroll to the bottom for some benefits of chia seeds!⁣ ⁣ Here’s my super lazy & quick way I make my chia jam! Start this a few mins before you toast your bread to give your jam time to thicken!!⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ I take a small microwave safe bowl & fill it with frozen berries—usually about 1/3 cup of berries⁣ 2️⃣ I then microwave these for 30s—1min until they’re soft ⁣ 3️⃣ I then add in 1-2 tbsp of chia seeds (depending on how many berries I have) & stir it all together ⁣ 4️⃣ You can also add a drizzle of maple syrup at this point if you want your jam sweeter but usually I find it sweet enough from the berries⁣ 5️⃣ Let your jam thicken up while you toast your bagel or bread and by the time that’s done it should be thick and a jam consistency cause the chia seeds will expand & cause it to thicken ⁣ ⁣ Some Benefits of Chia Seeds (Obtained from Harvard School of Public Health)⁣ In just 2 tbsp:⁣ ✨ 4g of protein & they’re also a complete protein with all 9 essential amino acids⁣ ✨ 11g of fibre⁣ ✨ 18% of the RDA of calcium⁣ ✨ trace minerals like zinc & copper ⁣ ✨ they are the richest plant source of omega 3 fatty acids
