Totally obsessed with these healthy fluffy pancakes😋🥞 Tag someone who would love these😍 ⁣ 🌟Ingredients:⁣ - 1 tsp chia seeds + 3 tbsp water⁣ - 175 ml plant milk⁣ - 4 tbsp soy yogurt⁣ - 1 ripe banana⁣ - 100 g spelt flour⁣ - 1 tsp baking powder⁣ - 1 tsp cinnamon⁣ - Fillings: chocolate chips, raisins, blueberries, cranberries (optional)⁣ - Coconut oil for cooking⁣ ⁣ 🌟Method:⁣ 1. Mix the chia seeds with the water and let it sit for 5 mins.⁣ 2. In a blender, add the milk, yogurt, banana and chia seed mix. Blend until smooth.⁣ 3. Add flour, baking powder and cinnamon to the blender and blend again until fully combined. Let the batter sit for 5-10 mins.⁣ 4. Melt a little bit of coconut oil in a pan and start pouring your pancake batter to create little pancakes.⁣ 5. This is when you can add the fillings on top of each pancakes if you want.⁣ 6. Chickpea potato curry (4 servings) -3 cups cooked chickpeas -3 medium potatoes, chopped -1 onion, chopped -3 carrots, chopped -3 cloves garlic, minced -2 cups tomato sauce -1 cup coconut milk -1 tbsp curry powder -salt to taste Sauté the onion and garlic in a little oil (or water for oil free) for 2 minutes, add the curry powder and sauté for 30 seconds before adding the rest of the ingredients (except coconut milk). Reduce heat and simmer for 25 minutes or until potato is soft. Add little water if needed. Add the coconut milk and stir until it comes to a boil. Serve with rice and salad. 🇧🇷🇵🇹Caril de batata com grão de bico (4 porções) -3 xícaras de grão de bico cozido -3 batatas médias, picadas -1 cebola picada -3 cenouras picadas -3 dentes de alho picados -2 xícaras de molho de tomate -1 xícara de leite de coco -1 colher de sopa de curry em pó -sal a gosto Refogue a cebola e o alho em um pouco de óleo (ou água para cozinhar sem óleo) por 2 minutos, adicione o curry em pó e refogue por 30 segundos antes de adicionar o restante dos ingredientes (exceto o leite de coco). I catch myself thinking often of those less fortunate and feel guilty for all that I have. Why is it fair that I am able to reap whilst others have nothing? • It’s sad that we live in a hierarchal society where everyone’s aim is to get ahead. Although to some I have abundance, to others I am poor. I value health above money, wellbeing above status. Do you ever wake up at 3:30am beaming with ideas? Yeah, me neither. But at 3:45 after the first couple of sips I can feel the mind revving. ••• Maybe that's why they suggest meditation in the am. ••• Anywho, our immune tonic is a staple around here. Even though we have dosages on the bottle we still get asked. So here is a little 3:32am tutorial. I normally do around 2tsp/pot of coffee which is shared between two people.... maybe one depending on how how "late" he'll be sleeping in. ••• And spare me on the coffee spiel. It's an herb. I'm not sure why it's been given such a bad rap. I actually stumbled on this article while having the coffee discussion with another herbalists. It shows that coffee helps with cortisol (and adrenal) regulation, along with a potential benefit of long term health outcomes with diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Exactly the opposite of what people have been bashing on it for years. Poor coffee. SHOULD I EAT EVERY 3 HOURS? That's a question I get asked all the time. In theory no, we shouldn't. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍠 If we eat a nutritionally balanced diet, low in refined sugars and flours, and rich in healthy fats, protein and non-starchy carbohydrates, the body should be able to maintain blood sugar levels stable for longer periods than 3 hours, resulting in consistent energy levels and less hunger. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❌ The absence of food intake for a few hours also allows the body to be metabolic flexible. That means that if glucose is missing because food intake isn't present, the body will use stored fat as a source of energy. That is a survival mechanism we have developed during evolution when we had periods of food abundance and food scarcity and had to be able to survive under both conditions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you feel the need to snack in between meals or feel shaky and unwell when you don't, you may be having problems in maintaining your blood sugar levels stable but that can easily be fixed through a balanced diet. Making sure you eat balanced portions with all food groups in every meal is important to maintain this balance. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🥗 I advise my client to stick to 3 meals a day when there is no underlying health condition that requires smaller portions of food more frequently, but as I've said here before, nutrition is highly personal and what works for one person might not work for another.

Vegetable stock is a life saver. Knowing how to make your own allows you to use it in soups, rice, broths, curries, etc. You can even freeze them as ice cubes and use when needed. You will need: - 1 onion cut in half with the peel on - 1 carrot, peeled completely and chopped in half - 1 stalk celery - 1 star anise - 1 bay leaf - 20 coriander seeds - 10 black peppercorns - 1 clove garlic peeled - Peel of 1 lemon Method: 1) Put all ingredients in a pot and cover with 1 to 1.5 litres of drinking water. 2) Bring to a boil and then cover and leave to simmer for 25 minutes. 3) For maximum flavour let it steep overnight and strain the next day. 4) Store in a glass jar in the fridge for 3 days or as ice cubes in the freezer for one month. 5) Utilise the vegetables from the stock as compost. Minimise wastage and maximise output. I love, love cabbage. It's cheap, nourishing and versatile. It can be served raw in coleslaw, fermented to make sauerkraut and... braised!! Braised cabbage might not sound like haute cuisine or anything to get too excited about but I beg to differ. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I seared 2 quartered cabbages in a Dutch oven until they were crisp and brown. I removed them and then sauteed a generous amount of onions for about 10-15 minutes before returning the cabbage to the pan along with some vegetable stock and red wine. I cooked the whole shebang for about 25 minutes or so before removing the cabbage once more and making a sauce with the remaining juices and some olive oil. Another Spring season. Another time for growth. Another time for rebirth. Another time for... me to change my instagram handle. • For those who don't know, I just returned a couple of weeks ago from spending eight months at the Isha Yoga Center in India. The first five months were spent completing the 1750-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training and the next three months were spent volunteering at the ashram and participating in advanced programs. My time there was challenging, to say the least, but it was the most rewarding and transformative experience of my life. I broke through so many limitations and shed so many layers of my so-called "identity." • I no longer resonate with my previous account [furitsofcompassion] and need a bit of a fresh start. You see, that page was supposedly dedicated to compassion for the earth and for ourselves. However, I would only consider you compassionate, if you were doing the things I felt to be compassionate actions [ie. veganism, zero-waste, organic farming/gardening etc]. I was completely self-righteous and extremely judgmental of anyone who claimed to care about the environment or well-being of any kind without following my same way of living. • My perfectionist standards were completely unattainable, even by me, and therefore left me criticizing myself and living a very limited life. I saw life in absolutes. Black or white. Now, I see the gray areas. I'm aware of the ebbs and flows and the unity of the whole existence. MORE ISO BAKING 😋🍪 Double Choc & Almond brownies 🍪 1/4 cup buckwheat flour 1 tbsp peanut butter 1 tbsp almond butter 1 cup almond milk 1/2 maple syrup 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking 1 tsp vanilla extract 2 tbsp flaxseed 1/4 tsp salt 4 tbsp cocoa powder handful dark chocolate chips Method Preheat oven to 200 degree C. In a bowl add all the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, flax seeds, salt and cocoa powder) and blend together. Next add all wet ingredients (peanut butter, almond butter, vanilla extract, almond milk) blend together with the dry using a electric hand mixer. Finally fold in the dark chocolate chips. The things one finds to do while housebound: I haven't made crackers in years, and this is the first time making fat-free crackers! I'm pleased with the result, they are pretty good! Taste kinda like pita chips. Need to make dip to go with... tomorrow, though, I've made a big enough mess for one day 😂 I'll get the recipe up on my stories later today! 🌱🌱
